Hello dear website visitors, i just came back from my dream event: Alpine heli smackdown in Switzerland! This time my friends Jonas and Anatolijus join me to keep company in this long but interesting trip. We leave Lithuania on Thursday at 13h, autumn weather as usual was not friendly (only 17 degree by celcius and nasty rain), but we leave our country with smile since we knew in Alpine smackdown great weather waiting for us. As usual any trip to good heli event is organised far away from Lithuania, Alpine smackdown was not exception. Driving one way took us little more than 26 hours, we drive about 2000km one way. We probably could drive this distance little faster, but in Switzerland we decide to avoid highways and drive in mountain roads.
This was good decision, we saw some breathtaking mountains, at one point our navigation system show that we are already higher than 2km above see level. We reach Lodyno town friday after lunch, not far from town Lodyno full size airplane and helicopter airport is located, this is where Alpine smackdown is held already fourth time. As expected we were pleasantly surprised with great weather, sun was shining, no wind at all and +27 degrees by celsius.
When we arrive to airfield Mr.Lukas Riva and his father meet us with smile on the face. Lukas is main organizer of this great event. It is really nice to see that beside fact that Lukas is world class heli pilot, he is also very nice guy to talk with and take load of organising such even on his shoulders. During event everyone who had wish could buy fly around tour with full scale helicopter that was flown by Lukas.
Alpine heli smackdown is not competition, it is 3 day event for fun-flying, people come here from all over the world. Last year there was 130 registered pilots, this year numbers rise up and it is already reach 150, this just show that such format event is the right one, and people enjoy it. Friday airfield was already open for flying, but not many helis were in the air, we took advantage of this situation and i flew my T-rex 700 nitro, and Jonas flew his Protos heli. We stay right at the field in tent, this was also good decision since we were able to make some night flying and check what other pilots were capable of.
Saturday early morning we wake up from "music" of glow and and electric motor, all eight flight lines were open and busy. After lunch there was demo flight made by: Mikado Helicopters, Beastix flybarles systems, Outrages and world famous heli pilots Tareque Alsaadi from Dubai, Bert Kammerer from USA, Raquel Bellot and others. Flights of Tareque and Bert left no questions, i never in my life saw such level "smackers". What i like the most both Tareque and Bert are very pleasant people to talk with. This was first time i meet Bert, he took his time and explain patiently his heli setup. Sunday was last day of the event, but people still flew very active, we pack our tent and equipment and leave this heli heaven in mountains around 18h. Another 2000 km and Monday night (23h) i reach my home. Alpine heli smackdown was amazing experience, i will definitely come back next year.
It is very nice to see that helicopter sport is moving forward in Lithuania. This year we had one cup round of F3C competition in Klaipeda and first national championship in this class that was held together with F3A and F6A championship in Marijampole. I'm glad to inform you that i won both of these categories. Next year we will do the same, and hope to see more participants from Lithuania and neighbour countries.
Again it was long time since my last update on my homepage, now its about time to write short update and share some good news. I am glad to inform you that i had quite successful and busy summer. I'm finished my fourth season of flying lessons in university in order to become airline pilot. Most exciting news for me was this summer wedding with my girlfriend from high school Dovile.
Im also glad to join forces with two respectful companies in RC world, first of them called Tornado fuel from The Netherlands. Before i became Tornado fuel team member i was already using this fuel for two years in my helicopters. There are several reasons why i select TF product's, first my glow engines have more power, that is very important during hi pitch maneuvers. Despite the fact that power increase, engine run more stable and temperatures stay lower. I highly recommend to visit Tornado website www.tornado-products.com and select high quality fuel for your helicopter, airplane or car. Second company i start work with is Castle Creation from USAwww.castlecreations.com Castle is well known manufacturer of ESC's (electronic speed controller for everything that can fly, swim ore drive). For 2012 season i will be assembling electric version of T-Rex 700, i will be using ICE HV series 120 and 160 amp ESC's to find most powerful combo possible. My good friend from Kaunas Ramunas Armonas www.rc-hobby.lt, have Tornado Fuel and Castle Creation product''s in stock, so if need some help and advices in Baltic states regarding Tornado Fuel ore Castle Creation product's don't hesitate to contact me (swokas@gmail.com) or Ramunas (sales@rc-hobby.lt)
Since my 2011 summer this year was quite busy i visit just few big events, first one was The Pitch brothers smack down 2011 in Denmark, hosted by Mr. Rasmus Jensen and his team. It was already second year i visit this fun fly event, last year i had good time in this well organized event, so i decide to repeat trip. This time my friends Marius and Anatolijus drive with me, so it was easier and more interesting trip. From my home in Lithuania to Brřnderslev in Denmark we drive little more than 2000 km one way, at the end of event organisers gave us special prize for longest distance drive with car. The Pitch brothers is not a competition, it is two day fun fly event, this means everyone come with own helicopters to have fun and show of. With no competition pressure, everyone fly more relaxed and show what they capable of, naturally to much relaxed flight sometimes lead to crash. But despite crashes no one was upset, its part of the game.
This year weather was not very nice for such event, but pilot line was still really busy. Event had about 100 pilots from all over the world, and such heli world stars as Mr.Jason Bell from USA, Mr Lukas Riva from Switzerland and Daniel Jetschin from Germany was also here to have fun and show they're skills. Next year i will be visiting this event again, and i highly recommend for you to do the same. To find out more please visit: www.thepitchbrothers.com Also i would like to say huge thank you for my sponsors Tornado Production, Jeti Duplex, your production work perfect during weekend in Denmark, and your sponsorship allow me to visit such wonderful events as PB smack down in Denmark.
As you can see from my previous articles i also start flying indoor F3P airplanes, so major indoor events are interesting for me as well. When i flew in Dortmunt Intermodelbau expo two years ago i meet Mr. Martin Muller, who is well known man in airplane word. Martin Muller is owner of many inventions in RC world, naturally most famous design is Ikarus Shockflyers made from depron. Right now Martin is not so active competition pilot as he used to be, but he is still very enthusiastic and have very interesting ideas towards RC models and modellers. Each second year Martin is organizing super indoor show called "Wall-halla Dream of flying", and i really mean super, atmosphere during 1.5 hour show is simply amazing. All act is made like a story with dancing groups, different fun acts and each part is connected with RC models. One of the most impressive things over there was group flying to live accordion musics. I was fortunate enough to be invited by Mr. Martin and his team to make demo flight with T-rex 450 helicopter. I travel together with my good friend Donatas Pauzuolis, he was also part of the show flying his Sultimate with VPP propeller, and borrowed Martin pattern plane Pharao in pattern competition on Sunday. To make Mr.Martin dream reality, he had to have big team of pilots and helpers, we counted about 150 people involved in this show. Hall where show was held was not to big, and it was able to accept about 1500 spectators. But there was such big interest from spectators in main show, that eventually there was about 2000 people, and some of them were sitting on the ground in hall leaving less space to fly for show pilots. To fell atmosphere you need to look for Wallhalla videos and check out pictures on show homepage: www.wall-halla.de . Now you can see all show in new released DVD: here...

Hello Dear friends. Few weeks ago, I have build F3P airplane - Elipsia, from Donuts model. Many thanks to Donatas Pauzuolis for this awesome kit, for help to assemble this plane and for some good advice. Total weight of this plane is 118,7 g. In this awesome airplane I have put: ePower 2203 1500kv motor, 9x4,7 propeller, 6A ESC, Hyperion 240mA G3 battery, Jetimodel Duplex 2.4 reacever, JR188 on ailerons and Diamond D47 servos for elevator and rudder. The final result of this airplane flies very well.
In middle of August me and my good friends Donatas, Ricardas and Ignas were invited to fly in big 3D show near Moscow in Foresta Torpicana hotel (http://www.foresta.ru). TV reports about fire around Moscow and smoke all over the place, were not very nice, but we decide to go, and i can say this was right decission. Weather for show was perfect and no sigh of smoke ore fire next to Foresta Tropicana hotel airfield.
